Our ancestral organisms did not have whole set of proteins that are
used by current organisms. During the course of evolution, living
organisms have acquired wide variety of proteins through mutational
events such as gene duplication. Associated with the events, the
functional variety of proteins have increased. Evolution of protein
function is regarded as protein engineering managed by the Nature.
I'm interested in the mechanism for the evolution of protein
function. On the other hand, the evolution of protein function has
led the evolution of higher order function such as memory, body plan,
and etc. I'd like to find the connection between the evolution of
protein function and the evolution of higher order function.
