Title |
Type 2 diabetes, is it an intestinal disease? |
Abstract |
Type 2 diabetes is one of the systemic complex robust diseases. Once one
is diagnosed to be the diabetics, the diseases will robustly progress,
against the current medicine or life style intervention. Surprisingly, a
bariatric surgery on the intestine, which was first designed for
severally obese patients, attains at about 83% diabetes remission rate,
and indeed, its rate has remarkable impact on the diabetes study. Apart
from the clinical remission, the underlying mechanism for breaking
disease progression pattern and curing diabetes by intestine surgery is
still unknown at the molecular levels. In this talk, we will introduce
our preliminary investigations which suggest that the diabetes is in
close relationship with the intestine at phenotype levels. Furthermore,
we will also show our trials and strategies by using systems biology
methods, to reveal the molecular mechanism on how the surgery on
intestine breaks the diabetes robustness.
