Counting statistics and related topics

Abstract |
Recently, stochastic property of small systems, such as cells, has
been focused a lot. A
master equation approach enables us to treat the stochasticity
analytically and to obtain
a probability distribution of states of the system. However, sometimes
it is needed to
calculate a kind of dynamical property of the system, i.e., the number
of specific
transitions during a finite time interval. Counting statistics is a
scheme to calculate
all statistics of the dynamical property, including higher order
cumulants, based on the
master equation of the system. In this talk, I will briefly explain
the basic concept of
counting statistics. In addition, further topics will be given,
including numerical
evaluation and a mathematical structure behind time-dependent perturbations.
